How I helped Joe
I've known Joe T. Baker III since 2017, when he reached out for an interview to talk about the book he wrote in prison. He sold it at the mall from a kiosk every weekend in Nashville, TN. Just three years later, Joe Baker became a storytelling sensation online and was trying to get his book into more hands. I ran across his website, and it was -- subpar to say the least. He did what he could and was selling here and there. Out of the joy and kindness of my heart, I offered to fix his website.

Joe's website needed navigational restructuring, a brand story, and SEO markup. From a customer's POV, I didn't understand how they navigated purchasing a book.

After publishing my edits, Joe's revenue increased on average by 400 - 500%! Traffic increased drastically, and he made a 6-figure income that same year from online sales.

How I helped Mr. William
When God has a plan for your life, He will put your name on the minds of others who never knew you. That's what happened with Mr. William. He sent me a DM on Messenger asking for a collaboration for his idea, the MidSouth Black Film Festival and Global Black Film Consortium. We would talk for hours planning and learning his heart for the annual event. Initially, this was just something he put on paper, and with the right team, it became tangible.

I spent a few months building out the website for both MBFF and GBFC. This was before AI, so all graphics, logos, and slogans were created by what I learned from Mr. William, coupled with my imagination.

With only 6 months to plan an in-person event with an online ticketing process, we were able to garner 300+ in-person attendees over the course of 3 days. We even had a few vendors. This event was successful using only organic strategies for the inaugural year: Local SEO + Facebook outreach to warm and cold markets.

How I helped myself
The Modest Movement Ministry launched in 2017. In 2024, I launched Christian Body Image as a partner ministry. I've had several passion projects, but these two are a part of my purpose to help women grow spiritually. I'll be honest, I got caught up in the fast lane of Social Media Marketing that I didn't give as much attention to Search Engine Marketing.

But when I did change my strategy, I saw amazing results. I utilized SEO software to gain a deeper understanding of my audience and their search queries. I used this data to create targeted blogs and videos answering those questions and topics.
​
As a result, we consistently receive 400 clicks a month from Google to our website, with email sign-ups from pop-up forms and landing pages that offer our freebie. We also utilize another underrated search engine, Pinterest.
​
For Christian Body Image, we've tested a small FB ad budget that added 24 women to the email list with 2 consults booked + 1 course sign-up. We only spent $50 for ten days and we repurposed a popular post from our Instagram as the ad creative.

Small websites can have good results, too! It's all in the strategy.
